My, me and I

Hey Everyone~

You might have guessed from the title today is all about me! (Not in an egotistical sense) But just so you can all get to know me better. When I started blogging, I had so many ideas in my head. Thus it has created an absolute chaos onto my blog, so much so I have forgotten to introduce myself properly. Also I have decided to change my name from “hitherandyond” to a more defining name that speaks to me, simply because it is similar to my real name. 😉

When I started blogging, I had so many ideas in my head. Thus it has created an absolute chaos filled with random thoughts and topic onto my blog, so much so I have forgotten to introduce myself properly with 10 facts about myself.

  1. I was born a twin, not identical. I have a twin sister who is 5 minutes younger than I am. 🙂
  2. I am left-handed! Any left- handed people out there?
  3. I love dogs AND cats. In the future, I would like to adopt either one of them and maybe more.

This is my sister’s cat. 🙂
    4. I have four sisters and no brothers. Coincidentally I wrote this for the fourth fact!

5. I don’t drink Coffee and prefer herbal tea over anything else.

Tea anyone?

6. I can speak Mandarin fluently as well as Cantonese, although I am a bit rusty since I haven’t spoken Cantonese in a long time. And of course, English too!

7. The Library used to be my second home, I went there since I was five and till this day I still hold the old addition of the library card. My favorite genre would have to be historical fiction because you get an insight into the past and the lives of people long ago.

Books on my bookshelf. 🙂

8. I dance! Ballet to be more precise. However, I am not the conventional dancer who began discovering the dance world as a young girl. I started quite late at sixteen. It has made me more persistent than ever to defy the standard route for dancers. I also have a dance blog!

9. I love photography, as you might have noticed, especially nature ones.

Love this picture. ❤
10. I grew up watching spirited away, Howl’s Moving Castle and other prominent Studio Ghibli animations. My love of art flourished as a kid. Disney has also been a source of magical moments in my childhood as well as DreamWorks. You could say I have always been an artist at heart.

Hope you guys enjoyed getting to know a little about me. As always have a good day and I will see you in my next post. 😉

ps. Thank You for 60 followers! I haven’t been posting an awful lot and the content I have is somewhat random so thank you for being patient and kind. 🙂

Much Love-

M.

The rose that grew even in Winter

I hope whoever reads this may find these quotes useful and motivating in the new year of 2017. These quotes really made me realize how stagnant I live – I wake up, go to school, do my homework, scroll through my phone, eat, sleep. Nothing I do every single day will make me proud or happy when I think of how I will feel when I look back on my life. I know I will remember the time wasted and the time I lost in forgetting to pursue my goals. I am sure I am not the only one who lives like this today, but perhaps I am the only one who realizes it. Therefore, I want to share with you all these powerful words that I believe will change this year.

EDIT: forgot to post this even though I had written it!

Quote day III

Good morning all! Today is the last day of the quote challenge for me and unfortunately the last day of winter break. I am not ready to face the next few months filled with exams and homework, but I am positively sure I will survive it.

These were the only white roses in my garden and surprising were the ones who lived through the cold winter. They remind me to stay strong and most of all beautiful in both inside and outside.

Without further ado here are my last three quotes of the challenge! And Thank You, Maya Rose for nominating me.

1. “Every dream begins wth a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion; to reach the stars, to change the world”  -Harriet Tubman

2. “What is the point of being on this earth if you are going to be like everyone else.” -Arnold Schwarzenegger

3. “If you are lucky enough to be different from everyone else…..don’t change” – Unknown

amazing quote few people epitomize. As we grow up we are hardened and changed by society and we slowly grow far from who we once were when we were children.   We grow up.

Dear readers hope you all have a lovely day. Stay golden. 😉

Awaiting Raindeers | Quote Day I

Quote Day I

Heellloooo!  Merry Christmas Eve everyone! I hope everyone is spending time with people they love. SO, it’s been quite a while since my last post *aheemm about a month ago* but I’m here again!

These past few months have been hectic and extremely busy. I am sure many of you know about the exams I will be taking this school year. And so this has resulted in tedious about of time spent studying and doing class exams. This week was my final week in school but unfortunately, this meant I had Christmas exams coming up. Luckily they went well for me and I have not only studied the required material but predicted the questions for many of the imminent exams. I am glad to say I feel as light as a snowflake after those stressful days!

Also, I have been nominated for the “3 Days 3 Quotes Challenge” by Maya at https://maysarose.wordpress.com/ (Thanks for nominating me! This has been the first challenge since I started blogging in late July and I am so happy this is my first one! Although it is a slightly late post!)

Anyways, here is how the challenge works!

  1.  Thank the blogger who nominated you 🙂
  2. Post three quotes for 3 days
  3. Nominate 3 bloggers per day
  4. Inform the nominees

A quote a day always makes my day but I guess thrice a day would make it even better. Here are my three quotes of today:

  1. “You can’t a rainbow without a little rain.” -Unknown.

  2. When you believe in a thing, believe it in all the way, implicitly and unquestionably. – Walt Disney.

  3. Y0u are never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream. – C .S Lewis.

Here are three nominees I have chosen:

  1. Moa at https://moandreasson.wordpress.com/ for her always amazing post that I always look forward to reading and her beautiful and aesthetic pictures.
  2. Denise at https://dreamerdenise.wordpress.com/ for that lovely comment that made me realize we all just dreamers in this small world.
  3. Harriet at https://aballetoflife.com/ for her insight into the wonderful world of ballet dancers.

I know how life can get in the way of things so for all you nominees don’t worry if you can’t partake in the challenge as soon as you would like. Good luck to everyone and I look forward to reading your posts soon! 🙂

And that’s a wrap everyone. Good day!

life so far and life lessons

Hi everyone sorry for not being able to post anything during the past month. I have realized how behind I am with blogging. Nothing has been very interesting in my life lately. It just has been a constant cycle of school, homework, Food, and sleep. And since this year is my final year before University, I’m sure all of you out there know the feeling.

Despite exams coming in the early month of February next year, I still can’t seem to fathom how close it is and surprisingly enough I am not worried about them, even though they might just determine  where I will be in Uni and if I will get the course I want. But meeehhhh……

Anyways, over the past few days, I have gotten to experience a number of experiences worth noting in life. I don’t know about a lot of people out there but these lessons have surely taken time for me to experience because of the introvert I am I tend not to go out a lot.

So without further ado here are the things I have learned:

  1. Know that you are your own best friend. People may try to give their own advice to you but the very best thing is to listen to yourself and to hear what is right  in you. That is not to say don’t give people the chance to be listened to but in the end, you are the one to make the final call.
  2. Don’t listen to what all the haters have to say about you, even if they may hurt you emotionally. If it’s not true then it’s not true, don’t linger on it.
  3.  Don’t worry, just think about now, not tomorrow or yesterday.
  4. Don’t waste your time trying to explain the truth to people who don’t want to see it.
  5. Be happy, it’s nearly Christmas!

P.S Forgot to mention Happy November Everyone! I have just realized how much I LOVE Autumn, I love the colors so much! What are your reasons for loving fall?

Ever since October has come I have already started to listen to Christmas songs already! My favorite one is Jasmine Thompson’s “Last Christmas Wham!” What yours?

Hope you liked this post and see you soon in my next one readers!

What Libraries mean to me

large (8)

Since I was a young child Libraries have always and will forever, have a special place in my heart. Nothing could compare to the feeling of satisfaction when holding a good book beside a warm fire and sipping on hot chocolate. Today I still possess the little plastic card, slightly bent and scratched but still usable that started my love for books and ultimately my relationship with writing. This card is 10 years old today and it started my journey with words from a very young age- 6 until today at 16 years old.

Every time I arrive at the doors of my local library something always seems to brighten inside of me and it makes me feel like I’m in another world, safe and happy from reality. This is especially true the moment nobody else is there; Just you and the books. Libraries have always fascinated me and I’m not going to lie, Beauty and the Beast have something to do with it.

this is me. definitely.

When I was younger the local library was only about a 2-minute walk from my primary school and I was extremely grateful for this. Back then I learnt the world of unicorns and mermaids and how evil minds transpired. These are magical moments I cannot forget. Since then nostalgia always hits back at me every time I wander to this place. I think everyone has these special places in their heart and for me,the library has always been mine. Books were never something I could really afford when it comes to buying but I do appreciate the services library have and for that, I am very thankful. Libraries raised me and they are my paradise. 😉

S. Korea 2016

Good afternoon all! This year my sister and I have planned on ticking Korea off of our bucket list and so, a few a took a 15-hour flight with layovers all the way to said country.  Unfortunately, I couldn’t write every single day when I was there in Korea. It has been very busy and I did not have a lot of time to write. However, today I want to update about the things I have done over the last couple of weeks since I went and hopefully, it will give you an insight into this beautiful country that is Korea!

So, when I first arrived we took the train to Daegu and stayed a couple of days. In that time we went to Daegu’s downtown and visited many small local clothes shops that were very beautiful and nice. Many of these shops sold a wide variety of clothes that many main street brands wouldn’t even consider (and I actually think they are way better.) There were many things that really surprised me too. For instance, the respect people have for each is on a whole different level. Most of you will probably know that the Korean language has a formal and informal way of speaking but did you know that the way you do things also needs to be considered? For instance, you cannot lift your rice bowl and cup it in your hands around it while eating? This one really shocked me because at home I would normally do that out of habit to get the remaining rice out of the rice bowl and into my mouth. Another thing is you always have to wear slippers when in the bathroom even when you are taking a shower!

Anyways, since I went there I am grateful for the amazing opportunities I had to be able to see these amazing destinations. At Korea, I visited four places in total and even though my vacation was short I was able to see just as much and do some shopping along the way too!

Daegu

This city is not as big as Seoul but it has its own significance. It is the fourth largest city in Korea and a fun fact about it is, it is hotter than the Korea’s biggest city. This is because Daegu is enclosed in mountain ranges that stop the winds from blowing into the area making it warmer- an average of 30-35 degrees if you want to know. Daegu’s downtown is the highlight of it and definitely  worth exploring. Beautiful shops and cafés line every street and corner and none of them disappointed me. It was nice to see the change of not having well-known brands like Hollister, Abercombie and finch, Zara, H&M etc. Instead, they had little shops that sold more beautiful and better clothes. This always makes me think how overrated these brand names are.

Busan downtown

Busan

Busan was our next destination. It is a famous tourist place beside the sea with beautiful views of beaches and lovely breezes. It was definitely cooler than Daegu and Seoul combined. Here we visited the “Busan Sea Life Aquarium.” Honestly, it was a good experience however I would say it was not the most enjoyable aquarium I have visited. It was mostly directed at younger children and quite small in size.

Here in Busan, we couldn’t miss Gamcheon Culture Village that had the prettiest tiny houses.

Jeonju

Jeonju was a small town we visited,it was so small you could walk around it in just a single day! The allure of this town was its traditional Korean clothing that people could wear around the village. There I got to try on my first Hanbok. They also had fried octopus and squid which I tried and was Delicious!

Seoul

Last but not least was Seoul.I was able to stay here for at least four days before I went on the return flight back home.

While I was at Seoul I has the chance of visiting the Royal Palace. It was super big and amazing but super hot too. I would not recommend people going there in summer in the 30℃ plus heat because you will literally be roasted alive. However, even so, I did have an amazing time. It’s always very interesting to see what people of status used to live in years ago.

Going home was a somewhat bittersweet. At the same time, I was so glad to go back home and I realized how much I missed it. Other than that I am looking forward to seeing what is in store for me next summer and where I will go. Maybe solo? Any ideas people have for a perfect solo country?

Happy Days

Today,or more like a few days ago was one of the sunniest day in Ireland. If you have never lived in Ireland before than you surely won’t know about the unpredictable weather we have here. Considering the fact that we live in the west of Europe, close to the Atlantic ocean it is no surprise this tiny island experiences heavy and long rainfall that will last almost forever. This is due to the south-westerly winds that blow moisture from the oceans and seas towards our small country However in the most unlikeliest of days, these past few days have been really beautiful and warm. I have celebrated this turn of moment with a nice walk with my sister in a local park where I live.

I have debated whether to post or not as I didn’t have my phone with me out during this walk and so I wasn’t able to take any aesthetic pictures. Luckily, courtesy of my sister, she had reluctantly allowed me to use one of her picture she had taken. (The one above if you want to know) And yes, that’s me! So, as you can probably tell the walk was a good one from the beautiful nature surrounding the place. The picture above was one I took in another time when I was there.

Today is another stunning day spent in- not my hometown but in the city. Hopefully, there will be more blogs to come in the future.

Goood day
