Where I have been

There are times in your life when you realise you have no control and times when you realise you have got to take a hold of your dreams and make them happen.

This past week I finally got my results and in all honesty I was not happy. I wasn’t really disappointed but rather annoyed that the hard work I put in didn’t show in my grades. Still I was quite calm and accepting with the results I got. A part of me is glad that I got my second choice out of the first choice. I think In the back of my mind I wasn’t really even sure what I wanted to do. I’m still really young and if I really wanted to do x y z course I can most definitely go and do it. Nothing is ever to late everyone! 😜

I really believe everything happens for a reason. This taught me the extent I have to put to achieve my dreams and boy do I have to try really really hard.
I will be starting my first year as a Computer science student. πŸ™€It is kind of intimating and exciting at the same time. It definitely will open more doors and opportunities for me. At the same time dancing is something I want to pursue. I recently can back from a dance intensive and I loved it so much, 😍😍 more than I expected! Even though the days were long I enjoyed every moment. I think I could even do it for the rest of my life!

Whoever is reading this, know that dreams are always possible to achieve. Why would you have them in the first place? But it’s up to you not anyone else to make things happen. There are going to bumps in your path but they will teach you more than success ever will. πŸ˜‰

Hope you enjoyed this post, sorry I have super MIA lately!

As always see you in my next post!

Whenever I feel like my mind is overwhelmed by thoughts I love to go on walks to think about them.

Splits progress from almost a year of ballet.( I have both sides now)

Running Running running….

Where I love to run. ❀️

Recently I saw the London Alethics 2017 on BBC and it has got me extremely motivated to get moving. Coincidentally it collided with a new habit I am trying to form, and this was running.

I have been running for almost 4 weeks, currently on my fifth. Thus, it is about a month since I have started. Unfortunately, the unpredictable weather here is quite a nuisance that forever prevents me to run as I want to every morning.

In previous times I have ran for only a couple of weeks until I called it quits. I don’t real remember why. But I do know it had something to do with my sister who was my running budding returning to the City to study. Since then I haven’t been running until now.

Honestly I think it is one of the best decisions I have made. And I think you should do it too!

I used to be extremly self conscious but now I don’t feel it anymore. Perhaps it’s because I have taken the first step in stepping out the door that it has made me more confident.

After my first run I realised it wasn’t so bad and it was something I could grow to love. Never in my whole life would I think this way. 🀣
Then I saw a documentary called “Born to Run” on YouTube about the Kenyan runners and their aspirations to become great runners and I was immediately filled with great motivation to run.

The next day I ran my first mile without stopping to walk and it was also my first time running 8km. I was thrilled about it! What was even stranger is that I felt like I wanted to run more and I didn’t want to go home! I have never felt this way before with running! It was super strange but at the same time exhilarating.

Even as I write this I am looking forward to my next run. Perhaps it has inspired you to consider running too? Give it a go, I know for sure it will be worth it. πŸ˜‰

Here’s a quote that I believe is extremly relevant to this post. Do you think so? If so get moving! Maybe it’s not running but something like horse riding, dancing, yoga that you are interested in. Either way keep moving; lest you want to have a sore butt for sitting too long! Hahahaha.   It may be funny but true!

Have an amazing day everyone!

May

Hello August!

Hey everyone!~

Another new month now, summer is ticking away very fast. It’s currently pretty rainy and cloudy outside, not much one can do with this weather. But besides this fact, I have been waiting with great patience for many things that are happening this coming August. πŸ™‚

My summer is a ticking away fast and I can’t wait until it is over, as weird as it sounds! Everything seems to happen towards the end of summer. It is in August where I would be able to attend a dance intensive in Dublin. (The Dance Institute).

As I am not a life-long dancer and late- starter this intensive will be catered towards my level. Besides ballet, we will be doing modern and contemporary, jazz, Tap (which I am looking forward to), pilates, Street and Ballroom. I honestly have no experience in any of these dances however I am looking forward to dancing ballet, which I will be doing every day alongside jazz. It will be an amazing experience I cannot wait! At the same time, I don’t want to have extremely high expectations as it might not be what I expect. In all honesty, I am a bit apprehensive as I am already 17 and I feel like many of the dancers will be young dancers. Thankfully, as I am of Asian descent, I look younger than I really am. For once I am grateful to be seen as more youthful! πŸ˜‰ Many people seem to assume I am fifteen or younger than my real age and now I can honestly say this will definitely help me in the ballet world.

It is also at this month that I will be getting my Leaving Cert results (click here to read about the Leaving Cert). Last month, in June I sat my leaving cert exams which will determine whether I get into the University of my choice. I think it would be equivalent to the A Levels in the UK and SATS in America. Basically, it takes your grades and adds them up in points which determine your place in Uni. Coincidentally, the day I get my results will be the same time I will be attending my summer intensive.

I am planning on pursuing Physiotherapy as my major which will be a full-time 4-year course in RCSI (Royal College of Surgeons). At the same time, I want to develop my love for dancing, which will be quite difficult in consideration of my choice of major. However, I am very optimistic about the future, my ballet teacher; Ms. S. is setting a provisional timetable where we would have three classes a week on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

If you are following ballet.to (me by the way) You might have seen a similar post I did to this one. That’s right I stole content from another website which is mine! Hehehe But, I will let you I have tweaked in some ways to suit the time frame.

Hope you guys have a lovely week! As always see you in my next post.

Earth Overshoot day and Gratitude

This was actually a small hill. I always feel like I’m going to fall down when I run down it! πŸ˜‚
These wild flowers are everywhere!

On August the 4th was Earth Overshoot day, and I only heard about it for the first time. It was only when I was looking through my Instagram account from WWF did I know of this day. To think I have been on this earth for 17 years and still did not know anything about it! It is quite appalling! Do you know what it is about?

If you don’t know what it is I will tell you.  #earthovershootday marks the day where mankind has consumed all the natural resources than nature can give. What’s worst is that this day was marked earlier than it should be, seven months to be precise. 😦

I know this is extremely depressing but it must be addressed to let the world know how serious the problem of damaging the earth is, let alone climate change. It’s a sad reality.

On a brighter note, because of this awareness, it has made me more conscious of the beautiful earth we live in. Perhaps the reason why people are not respecting and caring the earth is that they don’t get to experience its splendor. They have not traveled to see the real world, of green lush fields, snow-capped mountains, and clear crystal rivers.

Nowadays kids are brought up in cities, not because their parents want to but perhaps because it is the most convenient place for both parents and children. And whilst they do seem to be able to see nature’s wonders in books, nothing compares to being physically present in these places.

I’m glad I live in rural areas, everyone is so much more animated and expressive. While city life can be exciting, it can be overwhelming at the same time, though I do love it!

Lately, I have been running during the mornings by myself and I can’t help myself by stopping to take some pictures.

I run under this trial. It has made my running life so much easier especially since the trees are there to shade me when I am hot and the sun is burning. πŸ˜‰
I hope this post is insightful and by no means is it to make your day depressing! I just want to make people more aware of what is really happening. But I know we are all helping the best we can. There is still hope!

Whoever is reading this I hope you have an awesome day! See you in my next post.

Much love

What I learnt from plants

Today I went to visit my sister who lives in another town a couple of miles from our home. She is a nurse-in-training and lives by herself and is in her last year of uni. Her house is so unlike my own. Outside cars can be heard bustling around and men chatting could be seen coming out of the nearby pub. At home silence is our guest and nature is everywhere. Cars are generally heard once in a while, not a lot though. So coming to her house made me really appreciate nature and its beauty. I don’t think I would be able to live in the city without being surrounded by greenery and flowers.

This realisation gave me the opportunity to relish in the few plants my sister has in her house. Funny how sometimes the most prettiest things are right in front of you, yet we don’t see it!

You may be wondering why I named this post “Be a Cactus.” It’s because even in such a perilous environment  this cactus still seems to survive. It overcomes many obstacles by retaining water and growing long roots in order to live. It is extremely resilient. Furthermore, though it is silent its thorns are its deadliest weapon that can harm even the biggest predator. A.k.a humans. πŸ˜‰

I guess what I am trying to articulate is that we are like plants in many ways. We live and survive off of one another.

Though it’s clear we have many difference. E.g. Our anatomy plants teach us that life is valuable and that we should be more assured of ourselves. Obstacles that come our way can be easily overcomed. Like the polluted enviornment we have our own which can be array of many things but we can still be the person we want to be. I think this is a nice notion to have, even if it may be a little naive. Let me know how you view it, do you think I am wrong or right?

Is summer over? And update.Β

Summers in  Ireland are very scarcely and when there is sun it usually lasts for only a couple of hours before clouds cover the sky again. Luckily, this summer we were able to experience the cool and warm weather of summer. Temperatures were quite high, around 20Β° and up. But nothing compared to our counterpart in London at 29Β°

However, I don’t really mind the heat. More often I usually visit my family across the world where temperatures are hotter and the climate more tropical. So you could say I am very used to hot weather. Unfortunately, this year I won’t be traveling across the world. With, uni just around the corner and summer intensive to attend it is very hectic, at the moment.

Here’s a photo of how beautiful summers can be here in Ireland.β™‘β™‘β™‘

As opposed to what everyday would look like. Very dull and dark, usually. But these days are great for hot chocolate beside a cosy fire. β™‘β™‘

This year has been an amazing year for me. I started my own blog around this time last year and I graduated from school. I can’t wait to start a new chapter in my life and to bring you guys along with me. I don’t know what the future has in store for me but hopefully it is an interesting one filled with big bumps and unexpected moments!

in midst of sorrow

In midst of sorrow, we shan’t linger in what we have lost,

But to ponder the great things our

lost have allowed us to realize,

And that is living is precious.

We will meet them in time,

In the meantime live life with vigor

For they who have perished lived

their lives to bring smiles to

others.

And, unknowingly to yours too.

Hello Readers, once again another brutal fatality has occurred and the most upsetting part of it is the innocent lives they have claimed. To all the victims this is a short musing/ poem I have written to remember them.

Β You need a little challenge to keep you going.

Trinity College. A picture I took of a University while I was on an open day, isn’t it beautiful?

Good evening everybody! So, lately I haven’t been posting very much than I would like to. My life is currently a whirlwind of school, exams, study and a long awaited mid-term breaks. So you can probably imagine how crazy my life is. In about a weeks time I will taking mock exams which will prepare me for the real thing in May and June. I’m slightly nervous and anxious and doing everything I can to remember all the material out of my seven subjects
Lately, I have felt very down. I found myself complaining from which wasn’t what I normally do. Sure I complain from time to time but this time it was extremely consistent.I realized what I was doing and thought about it for a moment and calmed myself down.
Then, I went to class like usual.

On that particular day I had a class with a teacher who knew we were under a lot pressure and she has taught something I will neve forget.

“challenge yourself against the negative thoughts. And this shall pass.”

When you read this I will still be probably doing my exams. And there will certainly be more consistent updates from now on. So, here a little thing I learnt today and maybe it might of taught you something.

All the best. And have a nice day!

The rose that grew even in Winter

I hope whoever reads this may find these quotes useful and motivating in the new year of 2017. These quotes really made me realize how stagnant I live – I wake up, go to school, do my homework, scroll through my phone, eat, sleep. Nothing I do every single day will make me proud or happy when I think of how I will feel when I look back on my life. I know I will remember the time wasted and the time I lost in forgetting to pursue my goals. I am sure I am not the only one who lives like this today, but perhaps I am the only one who realizes it. Therefore, I want to share with you all these powerful words that I believe will change this year.

EDIT: forgot to post this even though I had written it!

Quote day III

Good morning all! Today is the last day of the quote challenge for me and unfortunately the last day of winter break. I am not ready to face the next few months filled with exams and homework, but I am positively sure I will survive it.

These were the only white roses in my garden and surprising were the ones who lived through the cold winter. They remind me to stay strong and most of all beautiful in both inside and outside.Β

Without further ado here are my last three quotes of the challenge! And Thank You,Β Maya Rose for nominating me.

1. “Every dream begins wth a dreamer. Always remember,Β you have within you the strength, the patience,Β and the passion; to reach the stars, to change the world” Β -Harriet Tubman

2. “What is the point of being on this earth if you are going to be like everyone else.” -Arnold Schwarzenegger

3. “If you are lucky enough to be different from everyone else…..don’t change” – Unknown

dont-change-motivational-picture-quote-1
amazing quote few people epitomize. As we grow up we are hardened and changed by society and we slowly grow far from who we once were when we were children. Β  We grow up.

Dear readers hope you all have a lovely day. Stay golden. πŸ˜‰

Out into the Woods

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Today I went on a journey out of the woods or more precisely into the dense woodlands/grassland of what used to be the Isle of Green. A.k.a Ireland. I

wasn’t alone though on this trip I was among many other people who had to carry out an ecology trip/study in a grassland/woodland and luckily my school has chosen phoenix park/Dublin Zoo to carry out this ecology trip and I am very grateful for that. After, 3 hours of gruelling hard work we were finished with it and were left to wander on our own around the Zoo which was a Superb reward.
It was my first time in Dublin Zoo actually since 2/3 years ago when I went with my family. Back then I did not realize how suffocating and enclosing these closures were for the animals. Now that I am back I feel so miserable but at the same time awed at the beauty and wonder of these creatures. The Animals seemed all to be in good health and was probably affected by the cold weather as I was. Who knew the cold would come so soon! I did not get to see all animals as I had to return to our bus to go back home. Fortunately, I brought my camera with me and took some decent pictures. I did not take all the animals because I feel quite guilty for being that annoying tourist that flashes and points their cameras in every direction of the animals. However, I did try to take these pictures subtlely and that kind of made me feel better.

Favourite Shot! I love this one because I have never made a close up on a wild animal before

Bone of a whale

Orangutans chillin in their groove.

Red monkeys who were actually fighting…

I’m really happy with this shot. It looks so natural.
